Initiative: Understanding Health Narratives

Key question

  • What are the psychographic or mental models of how people situate themselves in their pursuit of health practices and wellness?

Our foundational research, undertaken with the National Health Museum, created a taxonomy of health practice pathologies that can be health protective in moderation, but pursued at the expense of other paths to understanding. Since that time, we’ve studied how young people imagine their behaviors in relation to future health, developing summary findings on risk perception, age and opportunities for learning interventions, and how the changing shape of bio-medical careers help shape youth perspectives on their place in the STEM workforce.
