Friends of the High Line: Program Evaluation 2013

The High Line, a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets in Manhattan’s West side, has become one of New York City’s top landmarks since its opening in 2009. In 2013, NewKnowledge collaborated with the non-profit that oversees the maintenance, operations, and public programming for the High Line (Friends of the High Line or FHL), to support strategic, long-term evaluation of the park’s public programming. To help FHL understand how the public programs encourage democratic participation, the project team led staff training workshops and worked alongside FHL to create evaluation and staff-capacity building tools.
